Architect and Healthcare Planner

Rozalind Murphy, Associate Director in O’ Connell Mahon Architects, has practiced as project architect with a special interest in hospital design and medical planning since relocating to Ireland in 2000. Rozalind graduated from the University of Natal, South Africa in 1998, completed her professional practice at University College Dublin in 2002 and is a member of the RIAI and RIBA. Rozalind has developed a great understanding in assimilating the clinical requirements of patients and staff with those of designing a modern contemporary healthcare facility and has demonstrated this in her role as project architect or lead medical planner on major hospital projects in Ireland. Rozalind has a particular interest in testing and researching design and clinical planning solutions at early stages in projects and in how such learning can influence unique solutions for planning of new facilities. This interest is reflected in her decision to proceed with an MSc in Planning Buildings for Health from the Medical Architecture Research Unit (MARU) at London South Bank University, which she has recently completed in 2018.
